Well the weather here in Central Ohio has been great these past few days with a high of 86°F on Saturday. It's been great for athletics, I play lacrosse for a my school and on saturday it was beautiful with now clouds, calm breeze, and very warm temperature. We had a back to back game that night and it was no problem at all playing. Any ways, that is the fun part about the weather but now that the temp. has gone up, so has the amount of outdoors work that has to be done. My backyard certainly needed alot of work to be done since we have 2 dogs how destroy it every year, and we also had a few dead trees with a need to be taken down. The biggest part isn't the trees or what the dogs have done but the damage left behind by the sun (Big spots of dead grass). The grass certainly has a lot of work that needs to be done. We have been working on it for 3 days and still aren't completely finished.
First we had to loosen up all the ground that had dead grass, and to do that we also had to remove all the big rocks that were buried beneath the dead areas so we could use a rotatillar (a gas operated shaft with some specialised propellor type things that rips up ground) and that took a good amount of time and work. After all of the ground was loose, the rocks were removed, then we had to place all of the new soil which took a while but would have been done quicker had we not been short a couple of bags. After the soil was done everything was pretty easy (placing new seed, giving a straw overlay, etc...).
Well off of the work now, it seems that this nice weather maybe a little short lived. The 10 day forecast from Weather.com says that around Tuesday night and through Wednesday, the Temperature will drop into the mid to upper 60's and there will be rain and possibly scattered T-storms. This is rather unfortunate or at least from my stand point since we have some rather large lacrosse games coming up and we have practice everyday this week (assuming the storms don't come in too fast). I suppose that this is fine since all the grass planting would be for nothing without rain to help it grow, but still it's always great to be outside for these types of days.
