Possible Staph infection?

Well guys at our very first lacrosse game that we had on the stadium turf, I got a very bad turf burn after taking a slash to the head then falling under the next few slashes that followed. The turf burn ended up getting infected (or is believed by the doctors at the moment) and I started to get a red line going up from the cut up my thigh towards my waist. This alarmed me and I decided that I should see a doctor about it after learning of a recent case at a nearby school where a kid became a double amputee from his whole ordeal. Any ways it I went to the doctor and they started me on anti-biotics which I really can't specify at this time since I am unaware of its name. Well I really hope that it does not turn into a staph infection and I will keep you guys updated so thank you for reading and wish me luck.
